Update on Suzie

Dear Friends,
Kris and I visited Suzie Sunday after our long drive back from Iowa and found her in great spirits! She had a pretty rough 9 days with lots of pain and nausea and very little appetite or desire for company after her 1st round of chemo but she seems to have turned a corner and was feeling really good that day. She woke Scott up Sunday to take her for waffles as she was starved and I don't think that was the first time.
Suzie said that her cancer was now categorized as stage 3C which we both thought was good. She still had her own hair but is prepared for it to fall out this week and she has a new wig ordered to take its place (blonde streaks and all).

She had great things to say about the Women's Center at NorthSide Hospital and how great they have been to her. While we were there a friend stopped by with communion for her and a really nice spiritual message.Holly, her daughter, was there and ran to the grocery store for some things Suzie was hungry for. We all had lunch after she got back and laughed about us Iowa girls who like Liverwurst.Monday was day 10 after the chemo and was supposed to be her lowest point resistance wise (Low blood count).
Since Suzie was unable to attend the Ladies of the Lake reunion at Black Hawk Lake Pam sent her some of the treats we all received and she was certainly there in spirit as were Marylou and Judy. She liked the visor we all made for her and we want to thank Pam, Jan and Barb and who ever else was involved for the fantastic time.
We entertained Suzie with tales of the dance at the Surf Ballroom (Pam's great new friend), the Buddy Holly look-a-like and even remembered snippets of Ruth's diary from 1959-60 which had us all laughing hysterically. Kris shared some her pictures with Suzie and she was impressed with the Bee Cake and loved the picture of all the visors. Ruth had already sent some pictures which she also enjoyed.
We will keep you updated as we get new reports.
